Car transport is one of the best ways to travel around both central Newport and the surrounding villages and towns. If you arrive by other means, it is easy to rent a car in this part of Wales and well worth spending the money. Newport is sited to the south of the M4 motorway, which links both the south-west of Wales and England, while the nearby A4042 (Turnpike Road) heads directly north and passes the eastern edge of the vast Brecon Beacons National Park. Around the city itself, car parks are simple to find, being clearly signposted and located next to the railway and bus stations, and alongside the Newport Centre, off Kingsway.
